DLF to invest Rs 2,000 cr on Nagpur InfoTech Park

Real estate major DLF Ltd has launched a 140-acre IT SEZ at the Multi-modal International Hub Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN), Maharashtra. The company will invest an estimated Rs 2,000 crore on developing this project. It will generate employment for about 50,000 people. The total work space within the IT Park will be 8.5 million sq ft, which makes it DLF’s biggest IT Park to date. The project will be completed in three years. It has already received formal SEZ approval. The IT Park is situated close to the international Hub Airport.

DLF executive director (commercial) Y K Tyagi said: “With other big cities getting saturated, a city like Nagpur, which has good infrastructure, offers a lot of opportunity for the development of space catering to the IT-ITES sector.” Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) managing director R C Sinha, who laid the foundation stone for the park, said, “Today is a big day for MIHAN as work on the first project here has begun. Within the next three years, MIHAN will attract an estimated investment of Rs 17,000 crore.”

Other major IT companies that have purchased land in the MIHAN SEZ are Wipro, TCS, Shaporji and Pallonji, Dell Corporation, Satyam, L&T Infocity and Ascendas.  Ascendas and TCS  started work on their IT Parks.

The Hope Of Vidarbhaites Were Rekindled On Wednesday When Chief Minister Of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan Said That The Much Awaited Project MIHAN Would Take Off Soon With Boeing MRO Getting Operational In March 2013. The Main Problem Of The Land Runway Has Been Resolved As Adequate Land Of 146 Hectares Involving An Investment Of Rs 1.5 Crore Has Been Acquired.
The Are Other Companies Already Establishing Their Foothold In The Project, Companies Like Infosys Is Coming With A Project Where 13,000 Jobs Would Be Offered. The Next In Line Is TCS Who Would Also Launch Its Operations With Provision Of Enormous Employment.
On Addressing The NVCC (Nag Vidarbha Chamber Of Commerce), He Said That There Is Saturation In The City Of Pune, Big Companies Were Eyeing Developments In Cities Like Nagpur. He Further Said That “ We Are Marketing MIHAN And Inviting Investors To Park Their Money”.  The Other Way To Attract Investors Was That An ‘Adavntage Vidarbha ‘Has Been Planned. The Main Concentration Sectors That We Are Looking At Are – Manufacturing, Co-Operatives, Textile And Automotive.   Around 5000 Hectares Of Land Would Be Acquired For The NIMZ Project. The Indian Institute Of Information Technology Establishment Is Considered In Places Like Nagpur And Pune.

The Next He Spoke Upon The Octroi Issue. He Said That The Government Was Introducing Local Body Tax (LBT) In Lieu Of Octroi. It Would Be An Account – Based Tax With A Totally Hassle-Free Structure.  There Has Been A Delay In Implementation Of GST Due To Opposition From Non Congress- Ruled States. GST Would Synchronize  Taxes And Create Competitive Markets In The Country.
President Of NVCC Dipen Agrawal Shed Light On The Erratic Hike N Power Tariff Which Has Crumbled The Backbones Of Industries. He Went On To Say That The Power Tariff Has Increased Many Fold On The Last 13 Months. The Rate That Has Being Charged Currently Is Rs 8.50p Per Unit Which Is Comparatively Higher That I.E Chhattisgarh And MP And Other Places Have Been Charged A Fee Of Rs 4.50p Per Unit. Vidarbha Is The Major Power Region And Most Of The Power Is Being Produced In This Region But Later Is Being Distributed To Western Maharashtra. There Is An Urgent Need To Develop Irrigation Through Canal Network. Cold Storages And Warehouses Must Be Set Up To Increase Shelf Life Of Agriculture Produce.
Finally He Said That NVCC Wants Compulsory Installation Of Captive Oxygen Cylinder Plants At Government Hospitals, “In Comparison To The Charges Of Supplies Of Oxygen Cylinders The Payback Period For These Plants Would Be Around 3 To 3 ½ Years . Nagpur Rail Project Should Be Implemented At The Earliest.
A Detailed Memorandum Was Presented To The CM To Address The Various Issues Pertaining To Vidarbha And The City Of Nagpur.

Infosys Nagpur Development Center To Begin Operations In Next 3 Year

India’s second biggest software exporter Infosys (NASDAQ: INFY) has signed an MoU with the Government Of Maharashtra & MADC (Maharashtra Airport Development Authority) to setup a development center in the city of Nagpur. Infosys Nagpur will be Infy’s second development center in Maharashtra, after Pune. MADC promises to offer 142 acres of land at the ambitious MIHAN project in Nagpur. The total investment Infosys plans to make is around Rs. 100 crores
The Infosys Nagpur Development Center is expected to create about 2000 engineering jobs in Nagpur over a period of 5 years once it begins operations. However the long term plan includes creation of over 14000 IT jobs with a total investment of Rs. 412 crores. Infosys operates over 64 offices globally and is home to over 145000 engineers.
We’re excited to hear the news of Infosys planning to setup its development center at Nagpur. This move by the IT giant will enable central India retain the engineering & IT talent. India’s #1 software exporter, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has already in the process of establishing a BPO & development center in the city.
